Enhancing the often-challenging lifestyles of graduate students is the goal for the iconic tower centerpiece EdR recently completed for Johns Hopkins Medical Institute at the Science + Technology Park in Baltimore, Maryland.  To achieve this goal, the New East Baltimore Partnership selected EdR to work with Forest City Enterprises and East Baltimore Development, Inc. (EBDI), on developing graduate-level housing to support the medical institute.  A Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold designation is in process for this community.

The project is receiving significant recognition:
2013 Student Housing Business magazine Innovator award for Best Architecture/Design for more than 200 beds (on campus)
2013 Student Housing Business magazine Innovator award for Most Creative Public/Private Financing (on campus)
2012 Creative Financing award from the Baltimore Business Journal
2012 WaveMaker award presented by the Urban Land Institute-Baltimore District Council

The project ― named for its address at 929 North Wolfe Street ― was financed with a combination of private EdR equity through its On-Campus Equity Plan ― The ONE Plan PlusSM.  The iconic tower centerpiece comprises eight- and 20-story apartment buildings to accommodate 572 students.  Easy access to the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute makes the community ideal for graduate students with challenging schedules.  The building features furnished and unfurnished apartments with ground-level retail, a conference room, a fitness center and a study lounge overlooking the green roof at the ninth floor.  Adjacent structured parking is available for residents.  Rents include in-unit washers and dryers, utilities, cable and data services.
