Thomas “Tom” Trubiana

One the nation’s preeminent student housing experts, Tom has been a leading figure in the student housing industry for more than 30 years. He has been directly involved in the development and/or management of over 150 collegiate housing communities representing more than 90,000 beds.

Having previously helped guide the company from a number of leadership positions, Tom was promoted to president of EdR and appointed to serve on the company’s board of directors in January 2015.

Tom began his career in student housing as a resident assistant for Allen & O’Hara — EdR’s predecessor company. He also served as president and chief executive officer of American Campus Communities (ACC) from July 1997 until October 2003, leading ACC through the company’s critical period of pre-IPO growth.

Prior to serving as president of ACC, Tom held numerous executive management positions for Cardinal/Lexford Realty Services, Inc. including chief operating officer. As COO, Tom was directly responsible for overseeing 530 multifamily communities.

Tom is a member of The National Apartment Association and its Student Housing Committee, The National Multifamily Housing Council, The National Association of College and University Business Officers, and other higher education and student housing organizations.

A graduate of West Virginia University, Tom received a B.S. in marketing and an M.B.A. with an emphasis in finance.

Bill Brewer
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Biography (PDF)

Bill joined EdR in August 2014 as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer.

Before joining EdR, Bill served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc., the leading provider of technology-enabled claims and productivity management solutions. He was responsible for internal and external financial reporting, income taxes, real estate, budgeting, treasury and internal auditing.

Bill began and spent the majority of his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he rose to the position of partner with a client base focused on public and private real estate investment trusts. A certified public accountant (inactive), Bill has a bachelor’s degree in commerce and business administration from the University of Alabama.

Christine D. “Chris” Richards
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Biography (PDF)

As executive vice president and chief operating officer, Chris oversees the operations of the company’s owned and managed collegiate housing portfolio, and directs the management services division. In the past six years, she successfully revamped EdR’s processes, systems and personnel to create market-leading leasing results and incomparable management services.

Chris began her career at Gables Residential Trust, a multi-family apartment real estate investment trust. She came to EdR in 2001 as a regional director and was promoted to vice president of operations in 2006 and then to senior vice president in early 2010. She acquired the additional title of chief operating officer in January 2012.

Along with her responsibilities at EdR, Chris is a member of the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) Student Housing Committee, a past member of the NAA board of directors, the past chair of the NAA Student Housing Committee, a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management, and is a certified property manager (CPM).

Chris received her B.A. in education from the University of Memphis.

Scott Barton
Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development

Scott is responsible for helping to grow EdR's portfolio of collegiate housing assets and managing the leasing efforts for retail spaces at those properties. He came to EdR from CBRE Memphis, where he was senior vice president of retail brokerage services for 10 years. Scott has experiences as vice president and commercial real estate developer/broker with Retail Realty Group, as vice president of institutional fixed-income sales with Mercantile Bank Capital Markets and as a senior consultant with Price Waterhouse Consulting. He earned an M.B.A. (finance concentration) from Texas A&M University and a B.S. in business administration (finance and marketing concentration) from Washington University in St. Louis.

Scott P. Casey
Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Development and Chief Technology Officer

Scott joined EdR in 2006, advancing to his current position in July 2013. He oversees external technology related to housing, development and construction initiatives including internet services, cable television, security surveillance and access control at EdR communities, in addition to all sustainability strategies and initiatives and compliance.  He reports directly to EdR’s president.

Scott is also responsible for developing strategic business partnerships geared towards creating ancillary programs that generate revenue and leasing opportunities for each property. He identifies innovative and often untapped revenue streams through his understanding of student life, each property’s technological needs, and his long-time association with many of the housing industry’s leading technology service providers. Scott sits on the board of PlayPro Media and Elauwit Networks — EdR’s technology partner — and is the chair of Elauwit’s business development committee.

Scott began his career at Arthur Andersen in January 1990. He worked nationally with the firm to develop software initiatives including new IT policies and performed small business risk technology audits, advancing to director of technology in 1995. He was formerly chief information officer and senior vice president with Orange Lake Resort & Country Club in Orlando, Florida. Scott also previously co-founded a real estate investment firm, overseeing real estate transactions as well as residential and commercial construction. His parallel experience in both technology and real estate has provided the ideal foundation for the dual role he currently occupies at EdR.

Bob Earwood
Senior Vice President of Construction and Engineering Services

Bob Earwood, senior vice president of construction and engineering services, joined EdR in 2014.  Bob’s more than 30 years of construction experience within the hotel and collegiate housing industries began at Holiday Inns Worldwide and continued at Davidson Hotel Co., Inc. He was a key member of the design and construction team that developed the Hampton Inn, Crowne Plaza, Embassy Suite, Homewood Suite and Perkins Restaurant concepts. As senior project manager Bob was responsible for the oversight of new construction and renovations, and supervised the work of all architects, engineers, interior designers and purchasing professionals while also serving as key liaison to ownership and management teams.  In 1992, he created Earwood Contractors.  With more than $275 million of construction and renovation developments, his company has worked on a number of collegiate projects at Arkansas State University and the University of Memphis as well as multimillion-dollar hotels, mixed-use facilities and other public buildings.  A licensed general contractor, Bob is a member of the Construction Management Association of America and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Lindsey Mackie
Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Lindsey Mackie is senior vice president and chief accounting officer, advancing in 2015 from senior manager of financial services, where she was responsible for internal and external financial reporting, compliance and internal audit functions. Prior to joining EdR in 2013, Ms. Mackie was with Deloitte & Touche, LLP, for six years, advancing to audit manager in her last two years with the firm. A certified public accountant, she earned her master of accountancy from the University of Mississippi and a bachelor of accountancy from Mississippi State University. She is a member of the Emerging Leaders Society of United Way of the Mid-South.

Matthew S. Fulton
Senior Vice President of Operations

While a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Matt began his career as a resident assistant at Granville Towers in 1998. He held a number of positions at Granville Towers and was promoted to assistant general manager before becoming the community manager of another EdR property: University Park Apartments adjacent to the University of Cincinnati. Matt was promoted to regional director in 2008 and was responsible for overseeing the operations of a group of EdR's owned communities. Matt assumed the position of vice president of operations in 2011 and advanced to senior vice president in 2015. In his role, Matt is directly involved in monitoring EdR's various proprietary reporting systems that measure leasing activity and customer satisfaction, and then implementing related action plans. He is still involved with community management and works with EdR's regional directors in budgeting and achieving key financial performance metrics. Matt is a graduate of the University of North Carolina with a B.A. in economics. He is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management and is a certified property manager (CPM®).

J. Drew Koester
Senior Vice President of Capital Markets and Investor Relations

Drew joined EdR in September 2004 as vice president and chief accounting officer to help lead the company through its initial public offering and support its transition into a publicly traded company. After the IPO, Drew led the transformation of the company’s accounting, forecasting and financial reporting and compliance capabilities, supporting EdR’s needs through a period of significant growth.

Drew was promoted to senior vice president in 2010, transitioning into his current position as senior vice president of capital markets and investor relations in June 2015. In this position, Drew is putting his knowledge of the company and its financial strengths to work, helping lead the company’s capital planning and management — including equity and debt markets — while also transitioning its investor relations outreach and communication strategy.

Before joining EdR, Drew served as vice president of finance for TruGreen Companies, LLC, a division of The ServiceMaster Company. Prior to his promotion to vice president in 1999, a position he held until joining EdR, Drew was a financial analyst at The ServiceMaster Company.

He began his career at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, and was a financial reporting manager for Continental PET Technologies prior to joining The ServiceMaster Company.
Drew received his B.S., accounting and finance, from Christian Brothers University. He is a certified public accountant (inactive).

Steve Schnoor
Senior Vice President of Western Development

As Senior VP of Western Development for EdR, Steve brings 35 years’ experience in construction and development. Steve’s recent career has focused on public-private and mixed-use real estate development in association with universities and colleges, public entities, not-for-profit organizations and other institutions.  His most recent projects include Roosevelt Point at Arizona State University-Downtown in Phoenix, AZ, the renovation of Bowles Hall at UC Berkeley – a 1928 historic residential college, and a new honors college and residence hall at Boise State University.  In his current role, Steve is responsible for providing leadership to project development teams and management of EdR’s projects in the western U.S. region. 

Prior to joining EdR, Steve was SVP Development for Concord Eastridge, a development company focused on public-private partnerships, and was Director of Alternative Finance and Delivery for Turner Construction Co., where he was responsible for management of design/build/finance and public-private partnership development projects on a national basis.  Steve also previously served as SVP Technical Services with Westin Hotels & Resorts. He earned his M.Arch. from University of Washington and his B.A. in architecture from Yale University.

Randy Simpson
Senior Vice President and Chief Information Systems Officer

Randy manages the company's corporate technology department. He came to EdR from Diversified Trust, where Randy was responsible for managing and overseeing the design and delivery of the company's client reporting systems, website, other information management systems and central operations department. Previously, he served as vice president of information systems for RFS Hotel Investors Inc. During his 10 years at RFS, he led the development and implementation of the company's information and reporting systems. Randy is a graduate of the University of Memphis, earning a B.A. with a double major in finance and management information systems.

Julie Skolnicki
Senior Vice President of University Partnerships

Julie Skolnicki, EdR’s senior vice president of university partnerships, is responsible for overseeing all on-campus development for EdR’s public private partnerships (P3) including third-party structures and equity investment under EdR’s ONE Plan.

Julie has focused her career on creating innovative partnerships to support the development of dynamic student life environments driven by institutional objectives. She came to EdR in 2013 with 15 years of higher education planning and implementation experience at Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), the University of Cincinnati and Turner Construction. She has managed the planning and implementation of more than 100 student life facilities on more than 50 campuses resulting in over $2 billion in development.

Julie received her B.A. in architecture from the University of Cincinnati. She is an Ohio‐registered architect and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional, and is an active member of The Society for College and University Planning, The Association of College and University Housing Officers-International, The National Association of College Auxiliary Services and The National Association of College and University Business Officers.

Jason Taylor
Senior Vice President of University Partnerships

Jason joined EdR in 2017. He has participated in the planning and procurement of nearly $1.5 billion of successfully executed public private partnership (P3) student housing projects, and advised more than 140 colleges and universities on the planning, feasibility and financing of student housing over his 14-year P3 consulting career. A well-known figure within the student housing industry, Taylor regularly serves as a panelist and moderator at industry events, as well as an author of a multitude of white papers and articles.

Jared Everett
Vice President of University Partnerships

Jared joined EdR in 2016. He came to EdR from Boise State University where he served in several capacities over his nearly 14 years there, most recently as treasurer and executive director of real estate and business development, where he managed a $500 million combined portfolio of investments, debt and capital projects. Prior to Boise State, Everett worked at Arizona State University. Everett’s undergraduate degree is from Arizona State University and he also earned an MBA from Boise State.

At EdR, Everett will use his nearly two decades of experience in real estate ventures to help university leaders navigate the variety of public private partnership (P3) options and determine the best strategy to achieve their student housing goals as well as support those universities in development and planning.

Kim Grisvard
Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Bringing more than 17 years of leasing, marketing, training and operations experience related to both the student housing and multi-family housing sectors, Kim joined EdR as vice president of sales and marketing in May 2016.

Kim previously launched her own consulting company in 2014 dedicated to student and multi-family housing clients. Prior to consulting, in 2011 Kim was named director of student media at For Rent Media Solutions, where she designed and developed the concept model of ForRentUniversity.com — a comprehensive, nationwide online search product that helps students and parents identify and lease available student housing on or near college campuses.

From 2004 to 2011 Kim was the director of leasing and marketing for MGI Communities, overseeing 5,000 units serving 15,000 students. In addition to demonstrating a leading-edge approach to student housing throughout her career, Kim has particular experience in creating dynamic websites, driving reputation and increasing brand awareness through digital media, social media and mobile strategies.

Kim is a recognized national speaker at a variety of student housing conferences and frequent contributor to industry publications including Student Housing Business magazine, The National Apartment Association’s Campus Connections and UNITS magazine, among many others.

Kim attended The Ohio State University and Youngstown State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications and hospitality management. She is a member of the Executive Education Advisory Board of the National Apartment Association Student Housing Committee.

Mark Grambergs
Vice President of Real Estate Development

Mark had nearly 25 years’ experience in real estate development — at both public and private corporations — before joining EdR in 2011. He is the development lead for EdR’s University of Kentucky residential housing transformation, overseeing more than 2.4 million square feet of development valued in excess of $450 million.

As an EdR developer, Mark is the primary point of contact between the university and all other development team members. He is directly responsible for synchronizing the architect and contractor with the university to design each project to meet the needs of the intended residents and school officials. He also evaluates market demand and works with the EdR operations team to prepare management pro formas.

Mark additionally helps universities select the most appropriate type of financing to meet their goals for a given project. Upon the bond and/or financing closing, Mark then assists with the construction oversight process and provides coordination with the construction team to ensure a smooth transition of the completed property to EdR's operations department or to the owner.

Mark received his B.A. from Georgia State University and his law degree from the University of Georgia's School of Law.

Lisa Hale-Meindl
Vice President of Operations

Lisa has been a valued member of the EdR team for more than a decade. During her time as senior regional director, Lisa oversaw the leasing and management of a large portfolio of communities. Lisa now assists the University Partnerships team by facilitating the development of the operational structure between the company and its university partners.

Lisa holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Kansas State University. She is a certified property manager (CPM®), an accredited residential manager (ARM) and a member of the ACUHO-I Foundation Committee.

Sonja Harris
Vice President of Human Resources

Ms. Harris, EdR’s vice president of human resources (HR), has 25 years’ experience in HR as well as REITs.  She began her career in 1990 at Gables Residential Trust, a multifamily REIT, as property manager/regional safety and liability trainer providing management and operational support for two residential properties as well as regional safety and liability training for employees.  From 2000 to 2005, Ms. Harris held a variety of HR management positions including VP of HR for Purchased Parts Group, Inc., a fastener distributor and logistics provider with domestic and international locations, as director of HR for Pennakem LLC, a specialty and fine chemical manufacturer and a pharmaceutical intermediate sales organization.  A graduate of the University of Memphis, Mrs. Harris is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management and is certified as an interaction management/resources management trainer.

James Kenner
Vice President of Design

James is vice president of design.  He joined EdR in 2012 to create the company’s interior design department, establishing a quality standard at EdR’s communities and providing top-notch services to our customers.  He formerly was a partner at Inter-Logic Design, working directly on projects for major firms such as Hilton Hotels, IHG (Holiday Inn) and Marriott Corp.  james was recognized by DHome Magazine as the Best Commercial Interior Designer in Dallas in 2007, 2008 and 2009.  He was graduated from the Art Institute of Dallas with honors.  He received recognition as a Most Distinguished Interior Design Alumnus in 2000.  He is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.  James is a Registered Interior Designer (RID), a professional member of both the International Interior Designers Association (IIDA) and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). He is nationally certified by the National Council of Interior Design Qualification.

Patrick Parsons
Vice President of Development

Patrick came to EdR in 2013 as a financial analyst and development and acquisitions manager. His project experience spans more than $500 million in real estate acquisitions and developments with university clients, joint-venture partners and EdR’s own portfolio.  Prior to joining EdR in 2013, Patrick helped expand ServiceMaster’s footprint through Mergers and Acquisitions prior to its IPO.

Patrick earned a B.B.A with a finance concentration from The University of Memphis.  He also holds a Series 7 and Series 66 general securities and investment advisor license (both inactive).

Jeffrey Resetco
Vice President of Real Estate Development and Construction

Biography (PDF)

Since joining EdR, Jeffrey has overseen the development and construction of several off-campus developments, including 929 (graduate student housing at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute), four phases of the mixed-use development The Oaks on the Square and Storrs Center at the University of Connecticut, and 605 West — graduate student housing at Duke University. In addition, he directed EdR’s on-campus housing development at West Chester University and is currently overseeing on campus projects at Cornell University, East Stroudsburg University and Shepherd University, each with mixed-use components of university functions.

He brings extensive experience in high-rise, multi-family, urban and mixed-use development to the EdR team. Prior to joining EdR, Jeffrey was responsible for managing all design and construction aspects of office, multi-family and hospitality projects for the Peterson Companies, including a major role in the development and construction of National Harbor. He formerly was a senior associate at Gruzen Samton Architects in New York City, where he managed major educational and multi-family projects. He received his master’s in architecture from North Carolina State University and his B.S. in architecture from the University of Maryland.

Brad Shaw
Vice President of Client Relations

Brad is EdR’s vice president of client relations. He joined EdR in 2003 as the director of residence life and student personnel development after working in higher education for 15 years. Since joining the company, Brad has created a formalized resident assistant program for EdR including training and policy manual development, assisted with development and acquisition presentations highlighting residence life programs, and spearheaded the operations relationship with universities and third-party clients across the country. He works with EdR’s regional directors in budgeting and performance management with regard to those universities and third-party clients. Brad has extensive experience performing university relations functions related to ground lease projects with strong university ties like those at University of Kentucky and Boise State University, among others.

Brad sits on the foundation board of the College Student Educators International (ACPA) and is a foundation board committee member of the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I). He presents regularly at conferences hosted by the ACPA, ACUHO-I, National Apartment Association, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) and other professional organizations. Brad holds a B.A. in business from Baldwin-Wallace University and an M.Ed. from the University of Maine.

Agnes Webb
Vice President of Tax Compliance

Agnes has been with EdR since 2008 and she supervises EdR’s tax regulatory compliance and reporting as well as the company’s overall tax structure. Before joining EdR, she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in tax consulting and compliance services for a variety of corporate clients.  

She graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accounting and is a licensed CPA in the State of Tennessee.

Joshua J. Wilson
Vice President of Real Estate Development

Josh is responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities of the entire development process for collegiate housing facilities, including projects for clients and EdR's own portfolio. He began his career at EdR in 2005 as a leasing manager with EdR's community at Purdue University. He then moved to the development department where he was responsible for all financial analysis required for development projects. As a developer, Josh is responsible for overseeing day-to-day details of the entire development process for the company's collegiate housing projects. He evaluates market demand, prepares pro formas and coordinates the efforts of the architect and contractor with the university to help ensure the community meets the needs of the intended residents and school officials. Obtaining the appropriate financing is an important facet of Josh's work. When this phase is complete, he helps oversee the construction process to completion. Josh also has experience as a commercial loan credit analyst with a subsidiary bank of First Merchants Corp., where he analyzed financial statements to create cash-flow and debt-servicing schedules for borrowers and guarantors in order to mitigate bank risk. He holds an M.B.A. and a B.A., both from Purdue University.

Frank Witt III
Vice President of Operations

Frank oversees a team of Regional Directors and regional operations with sites throughout Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Ohio, California and Colorado, along with providing direction for our traveling Community Manager within EdR. He originally joined EdR in 1984 and advanced to manager of several communities before leaving in 1997 to assume similar roles with McKinney Properties and College Park Communities, advancing to regional manager. He rejoined EdR in 2005, serving as Regional Director, then Regional Vice President in 2012 and moving into Vice President of Operations fall of 2017.

Since rejoining EdR, Frank has provided leadership and guidance to properties we have managed for a variety of ownerships at various locations throughout the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), including Bloomsburg University, California University of Pennsylvania, Clarion University and Lock Haven University. Frank has also performed similar functions in the state of Maryland at Salisbury University and Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. He has played an integral part in our third party management operations throughout EdR. He holds a bachelor of science degree from West Virginia University as well as accredited residential manager (ARM) status through the Institute of Real Estate Management.

Jennifer E. Worsham
Vice President of Operations

Like many executives at EdR, Jennifer began her career in property management as a community assistant (CA) while a student at Georgia Southern University. She was promoted to resident services manager while completing her master’s degree and went on to manage two of EdR’s communities. Jennifer was promoted to regional director in 2012 and was responsible for overseeing the operations of a group of EdR’s owned communities. She assumed the position of senior regional director in 2014 and added leadership of EdR’s training department to her responsibilities. Jennifer holds a B.S. in justice studies, an M.P.A, and is a certified property manager (CPM®).
